Twitter and Vodafone enable UK SMS again

A big score for Vodafone and Twitter to have UK SMS back again. I wonder how many Twitter users will switch to Vodafone. It’s a great feature – we have Twitter integration with Resolve RM and being able to receive SMS updates for free when a customer sends in a request is useful. If you use Resolve RM and Vodafone the feature is back again!

Twitter, Mainstream? What say you?

I was reading the paper at the weekend only to find a 2 page article on Twitter (the microbloggingsocialnetworkphenomenon). A couple of hours later I got a ‘new follower’ email from my brother.

Neither event were related, my brother later told me he had ‘discovered‘ Twitter after hearing about it on Radio 1.

I believe it does go to show Twitter is gaining more acceptance and becoming ‘like FaceBook’ – my brother is perfectly ‘technology aware’ but arguable has a lot better things to do than spend time on FaceBook/Twitter (he’s not in IT), he already has a large social group of friends and isn’t a big FaceBook user to boot.

Twitter Followers

With more and more UK celebrities joining Twitter it’s growth in the UK is soaring (those are a handful of people ‘following’ me in the above image), however I’m not sure everyone will see the value without some tweaks from Twitter.

What are your thoughts, and why did you join Twitter?

Raising Money For Charity

A couple of times a year I try to raise some money for charity in a fun and interesting way – I’ve sold a Cat 5 dog lead, sponsored Twestival, and donated some of the profits from Spend Meter to charity.

This year I thought I’d try something different – for every new follower I get on Twitter, I’ll donate 10p to charity.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not forcing people to follow me, or trying to buy friends, I just thought it was a fun way to get people involved in the process – they can even vote for the charities the money is going to.

So please feel free to pass this on, and we’ll see how much we can raise.
